Plan your visit to Rik Wouters


During the renovation of KMSKA, the Museum’s extensive Rik Wouters collection will be put on display in Mechelen, the town where the artist was born. The venue of the exhibition Rik Wouters  is Schepenhuis Museum, which will be temporarily transformed into a Rik Wouters museum.

Guided tours

The Municipal Museums Mechelen provide guided tours to Rik Wouters. A tour takes 2 hours and costs € 60 per group of up to 25 persons. Please make reservations at least three weeks prior to your visit by contacting Uit in Mechelen, T +32 (0)70 222 800.

Schepenhuis Museum is located at Steenweg 1 in the centre of Mechelen, between Grote Markt and Ijzerenleen.

Walking to Schepenhuis Museum

Schepenhuis Museum is situated in the historical centre of Mechelen, near Grote Markt and St Rumbold’s Cathedral, and at walking distance from Mechelen Railway Station (14 minutes) and Mechelen – Nekkerspoel Railway Station (12 minutes).

Public transport to Schepenhuis Museum

By train:

  • Arrival at Mechelen Railway Station: walk to Coxiestraat and turn right at Kardinaal Mercierplein. Follow Graaf Van Egmontstraat, Vijfhoek and Bruul and turn left into Geitestraat. Then turn right at Schoenmarkt and follow the left bend along Steenweg.
  • Arrival at Mechelen-Nekkerspoel Railway Station: turn right and follow Zandpoortvest. Turn left into Keizerstraat. Continue straight ahead at Veemarkt and follow the left bend at Befferstraat. Finally, take a slight right turn at Grote Markt and turn left at Steenweg.
