The Business Management Department is responsible for maintaining the museum building and infrastructure, and for managing the finances and staff. The department is also in charge of safety and security policy.
The Business Management Department takes care of, among other things, the planning and implementation of a number of specific commercial assignments of the museum. Its supporting role is instrumental for the optimal execution of the assignments of the other departments and it is intended to contribute to the optimisation of visitors' experiences at the museum.
- To provide a modern and professional museum management, in relation to the institution's own staff, the visitors, the Flemish public authorities and other museums.
- To manage the museum building in a manner that combines its cultural and historical value with the requirements of a contemporary museum setting.
- To maximise safety and security for the benefit of the visitors, staff and collection.
- To provide support and advice to the executive and line staff through effective knowledge management.
