Eight remarkable restorations supported by the National Lottery
Since 2016 the museum can count on the support of the National Lottery for the restorations of the artworks.
Work at the conservation studio is at full swing. All the artworks are passing through the conservators’ hands so that the collection will be in better shape than ever when the museum reopens. In the first series of The Restorer, we follow twin sisters Ellen and Jill, who are working together to conserve Jacques Jordaens’ painting Cupid and Psyche.
It will soon be time to say goodbye! Conservators Ellen and Jill look back over the past few months. How did the conservation process go? What proved to be their biggest challenge? And what did they enjoy most about restoring Cupid and Psyche? They bid farewell together to what had become ‘their Jordaens’.
