KMSKA LATE - Book launch Guy Vandenbranden
Category:
Date:

How close was a Belgian artist’s connection to Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni and François Morellet? Closer than you might think. Discover the answer during the presentation of the new catalogue covering Guy Vandenbranden's entire body of work.
Chantal Pattyn will be in conversation with Lisa van Gerven (curator at KMSKA), as well as Yoeri Vanlangendonck and Brecht Callewaert of the Guy Vandenbranden Estate.
To mark the centenary of Guy Vandenbranden’s birth (1926), the Callewaert Vanlangendonck Gallery has published a comprehensive catalogue raisonné. The exhibition serves as the foundation for this new overview of his oeuvre, highlighting the artist’s international position within the network of the European avant-garde.
From Brussels and Antwerp, Vandenbranden built a network that extended to Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Geneva and Milan. His contacts and artistic exchanges with figures such as Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni and François Morellet demonstrate how closely his development was intertwined with the major international avant-garde movements of his time.
Based on years of archival research, the publication draws on correspondence, historical photographs and exhibition documents to offer new insights into his work and the artists with whom he was in dialogue.
A book signing and sale will take place after the discussion.
