Slow Art Day

Activities
In Dutch.
On average, a museum visitor looks at an artpiece for 28 seconds. On Slow Art Day, we want to invite everyone to look at art more slowly and discover more.

Slow watching with music

10:30 - 12:30, room 2.22
exhibition Visionary Collected
live performance Monk + afterword with guide in Dutch

What happens when you experience art accompanied by music?
Come experience it at Memlings Christ with singing and music-making angels, in dialogue with Lighthouse Lamp by contemporary artist Olafur Eliasson.
At 10:30, a performance by Monk, Thibaud Meiresone's solo project, starts in room 2.22.  He is inspired by the spiritual power of Memling's triptych. Especially for the museum, he composed a soundtrack which he performs live. Electric guitars, effects pedals, analogue synthesizers, modular systems and religious chants merge into an intense whole that invites you to listen and look intensely at art.
What effect does the music have on your viewing experience? How do you experience contemporary art in dialogue with the medieval panels?
After the performance, you can remain seated for an after talk with a museum guide.
