Scherzi Musicali
With more than ten years on the clock, presently the Belgian ensemble Scherzi Musicali is a well-known name in the world of early music. The pleasure of playing and prior research go hand in hand as the musicians (re)discover the repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. Unknown works or well-known pieces, they all undergo a process of reflection in order to arrive at the most accurate interpretation of the musical style.
Founder Nicolas Achten (b. 1985) leads this ensemble, which ranges from 3 to 40 musicians. His baritone sets the tone while he accompanies himself on lute, theorbo, harp or harpsichord. He is surrounded by singers and musicians with whom he built the musical identity of Scherzi Musicali.
